Mole Day

I have to admit....I hate mole day. Never really understood the point of making a dumb mole for chemistry class this late in the year. It's just busy work. Well, Chris's whole weekend is taken up so we knew we had to get that mole done lastnight. Staying up till 11pm making a dumb mole was a little annoying but we actually really had fun together. Chris really seemed to like sewing. Chris said he wanted to make a different one every day this summer......okay.....it wasn't that much fun.....seriously. So, he has the finished project but when he left for school this morning he hadn't decided if he was naming it Chief "Mole"ses.......or Geroni"Mole" Oh......and school is almost out for summer!!!!!!!!! Thank heavens for that. Remind me I said that in Aug. when I am counting down the days for school to begin.

Random thoughts

It has been a long few days. I started getting sick on Wed. and spent 3 straight days in bed. Tonight I'm starting to feel icky again but I think I may actually live. I was beginning to wonder on Saturday. Hope nobody else in the family gets this crud. I got the most beautiful roses from Kevin on Thurs. and it sure brightened my day after getting so sick. Thanks kev.

We have a family in our ward that is moving to Idaho. I am really going to miss them. Such a talented and fun family. They have the cutest little guy and he gave a talk in Sacrament meeting yesterday. He talked about David and Goliath and then pulled out his slingshot and hurled something through the air. I laughed so hard. It was sweet. Grandpa said "That's the best talk I've heard in a year."

Chris started his summer ball season today. I didn't feel much like getting up but was so glad I went to his game. He pitched the first three innings. Had 4 or 5 strike outs. Pitched a seven pitch second inning. Nobody hit off of him. He was really happy about his performance on the mound yesterday. I typed up his ball schedule for the next two months to give to his boss and it made me have a headache. Wow....so many games in the next few weeks....did I mention I have a wedding in the middle of two tournaments.....I think this may be even more wild than getting married the day after Christmas.

Chris has been wanting to learn to fly fish. He's a great little fisherman and he is always running down to the creek and bringing back some really nice rainbow trout but he has never fly fished. Scott took him out back and it was so cute to watch the two of them as dad taught son the secrets of fly fishing. I managed to sneak a few pictures before they caught me. It was a precious moment. They spent the afternoon fly fishing today. Chris loved it.

Screech!!!!

I was trying to catch a few extra minutes of sleep this morning when I heard this horrible screech. I was sure it was Chris making some kind of weird obnoxious noise because he is always doing something like that. I yelled from the bedroom "Knock it off Chris. I'm trying to sleep." About three minutes passed and I heard it again. Okay....wasn't funny now and I was going to go out there and tell Chris I meant business. I heard the shower running and realized the noise couldn't have come from Chris. "Screeeeeeeech" I heard it again. I looked out the kitchen window and there was the most beautiful peacock. I rushed to get my camera. It started to run out of the yard as soon as it saw me but I managed to get a few pictures. I was screeching back at it trying to get it to raise it's tailfeathers. I was probably quite a sight out there in my robe screeching. Chris really laughed when he got out of the shower and I told him I was mad about all his screeching. I'm sure tomorrow morning Chris will be right outside my door trying to mimick the peacock screech thinking he'll be able to get away with it.

Happy Mother's Day Again

Yesterday the UPS man brought me a nice surprise. It was my mother's day gift from Carolyn. She had made it herself. How sweet. It reminded me of the days she would happily skip in from the bus to reveal her mother's day present she had made at school. I love it! The polka dots are the perfect match for my kitchen and family room. Thanks bug! I was also very happy that UPS had wrapped my beautiful plate in bubble wrap for shipping. I love bubble wrap. It is one of the greatest inventions in the world. I think people would save a ton of money on therapy if they just played with bubblewrap each day.

Summer Falls

We went from winter to summer in the Columbia Basin. I don't think we even had spring. A week ago I was huddled under blankets at Chris's games and this weekend it is going to be 96 degrees. That is 20 degrees above average. Well, yesterday was the hottest day of the year and Scott and I took full advantage of the beautiful weather. We packed a picnic lunch and drove out to Summer Falls. It was so peaceful. There was only one other person in the park and he was down on the other end playing his guitar. If Scott would have been thinking he should have told me that he paid the guy to seranade us. It was so beautiful with the falls and the birds chirping and the groundhogs running all over the park. I could have stayed for hours.....but a girl has her priorities. I had a date for a chick flick "Made of Honor" with Shelby and her mom. It was Mcdreamy.....I had to get back for that.

Scott got me lillies for mothers day and they have started to open into full bloom and they are so beautiful. I thought I would share my pretty flowers with everyone so I took a picture. Aren't they lovely!

YUMMY

My mother's day present from Kevin arrived today. It was a box of the biggest hand dipped strawberries I have ever seen. They are almost to pretty to eat.....but trust me....I'm going to eat them. I'll have to fight Chris though....that kid is addicted to strawberries. There was the sweetest note inside. Thanks Kevin.

Happy Mother's Day

Today was not the mother's day that I expected it would be. I imagined that my college kids would be home for the summer and the house would be full. I was a little blue this morning when I awoke to a quiet house. Scott was at highcouncil meeting and Chris was sound asleep. I didn't hear Carolyn squealing as Chris would leap on her bed to awaken her. I didn't hear Kevin playing the hymns on a Sunday morning filling our home with music. I spent the afternoon at church. The primary kids sang a medley and I was a bit sad I didn't have any kids that age to sing to me. I was pleasantly surprised when the young men and young women stood to sing Love at Home in English and Spanish. The mothers received a beautiful gift this year. I normally get a plant that is dead before the end of the month. This year we were given a CD of beautiful music. I think it's safe and I can't kill that. Chris gave me a really neat gift. He made me a coaster with a picture of the two of us in it. He also gave me a digital key chain that I'm very excited about. Can't wait to load pictures of my kids on it. Kevin and Carolyn both called and we had a nice visit. After talking to each of them I wasn't blue any longer. I was filled with joy at their happiness. Carolyn and Brent are so happy together and their home is filled with laughter. Kevin is at such peace as he talks of his upcoming wedding to his beautiful fiance. Stacie is a wonderful girl and we are so happy that she will soon be part of the Jackson clan. I felt such peace today as I realized that I had done just as I was supposed to do. I had loved them and taught them and then I gave them their wings to fly on their own.....and what a wonderful job they are doing. They have made great choices and they are so happy. I LOVE BEING A MOM. It brings so much joy to my life. I miss them dearly.....but I'm thankful for their new adventures as they begin their lives with their spouses.
I had a nice visit with my mom today. She has taught me so much. When people tell me what a good mom I am I have to say it is because I had a very good teacher. Thanks mom.

Three Way Tie

The chiefs ended their regular season in a tie for second place with Davis and Wenatchee. That is going to force a playoff. We were the only team to beat number one Richland so we get to wait and watch Davis play Wenatchee and we will play the winner on Tues. It would be nice to win that game. It would mean a bye for the first game of playoffs and put us into the double elimination round. It would also give us home field advantage for the first play off game. Today is my first Saturday without a game in weeks and also the first Saturday without a game in the weeks ahead. Since Tues. Chris had four varisty games and he went down and pitched a game for JV and played one in the outfield. So, I have spent 17 hours at the ball fields in the last four days. No wonder I'm exhausted. I will take a big deep breath and get ready for summer ball. It starts the day after we finish with playoffs. Chris has had a great week with ball. He hit two triples on Wed. Had a nice hit in last nights varsity game and he pitched a full game on Wed. night getting a 7-1 win. His arm is really sore. He went straight to play the next game so he didn't put ice on his arm until after the double header. I'm glad he has a day off today. We could all use the rest.
